10 years…10 things we’ve learned…

Hi Project Phoenix community,

10 years ago, it started in a living room.Just a few people willing to have honest conversations, even when it wasn’t easy.

Last week, I stood in that same space again with Mark Anderson (watch his video below). And it brought back a lot…

So here it is:

10 years of Project Phoenix, in 10 things we’ve seen and learned.

1. Big things can start in small rooms.

2. You don’t need to be an expert to begin, just willing.

3. Honest conversations change relationships.

4. Listening is often more powerful than having answers.

5. People reconnect when they feel safe enough to be real.

6. Healing doesn’t happen alone, it happens in community.

7. Many of our own team members found their calling through this work.

8. Growth often begins where things feel uncomfortable.

9. When people feel seen and heard, something shifts.

10. It’s still simple at the core: show up, listen, choose connection.

Over the years, we’ve seen parents and children reconnect, conversations open after years of silence, and people bring this work into their own communities. Not because we have all the answers, but because we create space for something real to happen.

As we step into this 10-year anniversary, we’re not just looking back. We’re asking:

What could the next 10 years look like if more people had access to this kind of space?

If you’ve been part of this journey in any way, we want to sincerely thank you. Whether you joined a retreat, asked a real question, listened a little deeper, supported behind the scenes, or simply believed in this work…You are part of this story. And if you feel something here, there’s a place for you. You can join a program, bring this into your community, volunteer with us, or support the work through giving. We’re a small, largely volunteer-driven team, and every bit of support helps us continue creating spaces like these and reach more people.

We’ll be sharing more stories and moments in the coming weeks. If something resonates, we’d love for you to be part of it. Because in the end, this is about what becomes possible when people choose to connect.

Warmly,

Romina and the Project Phoenix team
